Color for my baby daughter's nursery.....?

My husband and I have decided to paint the sky, clouds, sun on my daughter's ceiling....any suggestions on wall color? I am not sure weather I should go with relaxing colors such as light greens, blues, periwinkle or lilac; or with bold stimulating colors such as yellows, etc. Most of her nursery is classic pooh (different themes of classic pooh, i didn't want everything matching!!)...

Color for my baby daughter's nursery.....?
How about vertical stripes? Like rotate purple and white. I think that would look great, and def get her attention. Good luck to you and congrats!
Reply:I would probably pick one of the colors of the pooh decoration and pick which one looks best. Maybe a relaxing color, since you have the sky even a subtle yellow would work or a soft blue
Reply:My new baby girl (due in August) also has the Classic Pooh room. I painted the walls a minty green color called "Crocodile Smile" from Lowe's. It is so pretty and bright, yet not too overpowering. It matches the greens in the Classic Pooh decorations PERFECTLY!
Reply:How about carrying the sky theme to the walls? Paint trees, hills, flowers, pathways, little cottages in the distance, etc.
Reply:my 2 month old daughter has black furniture pink and white acessories and lilac walls

Cool Internet site for girl's curtains?

I am redecorating my daughter's room (she is 7). We just painted her room periwinkle blue. Does anyone know of good internet sites that have cute, unique curtains for girl's rooms that are not overly expensive? We were thinking... maybe, shabby chic (green, blue, yellow floral)?... but are open

Reply:Try Potter Barn Kids.
Reply:the two of you could take a trip to the fabric store..joanns or michaels for example and pick a pattern out together and make the curtains. There are curtains in the pottery barn kids catalog that have two ribbos on either side that hang nicely when the curtains are closed and they gather into cute bows on the sides when you want to pull the bottom half of the curtain up. so simple to make and super cute...the PB catalog only offers the curtain in solid eyelet or gingham patterns, but I found a floral pattern and made them myself and they are just darling! and original!
Reply:Target rocks for kids' room stuff. They have really cute designs and also a line of adult curtains called "shabby chic."

Don't forget a curtain rod with a cool finial at the end to spice it up. Here's an article I found on wehow.com about how to choose the right style of curtain rod....

Wedding bouquet?

help my bridesmaids dress is periwinkle, and i need a bouquet that will match.

Wedding bouquet?
stick to something white or you'll be overwhelmed with color. something like this:

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

of course it also depends on the theme and time of your wedding...check out the knot.com you can browse bouquets by color or by type of flower...good luck!
Reply:I think that bouquet has a little too much blue for a periwinkle dress. White or light yellows would look nice. Maybe a deep red depending on the wedding colors.
Reply:I would use a cream colored flower such as a rose, or daisy
Reply:this a pretty bouquet go to this web site

Reply:Soft yellows and whites would look great. Maybe even an iris or lilac or two would add a pop of purple
Reply:Hmm you could do a pink bouqet, or purples. Chec out project weddings. They have tons of pics of flowers on there.
Reply:Check out hydrangeas, they come in blues, pinks, lavender, yellow, white and greens.

The large blossoms make stunning bouquets.

Problem with a/c

Most Atheists accept the Universe as cold, pitiless, & indifferent. Why do Believers find this so difficult?

^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^ ^v^

Atheists see humans as exactly like any other form of life.

Why do believers insist we are singled out as special?

We all are born.

We all have good times and bad.

We both interact and spend time alone.

Eventually we die.

Those words equally well describe earthworms %26amp; emus, cows %26amp; cuckoos, geckos %26amp; goldfish, hawks %26amp; humans. Perhaps even pines %26amp; periwinkle.

What reason do Believers have to smugly feel that humans have some special fate? Why is such belief not simply a perpetuation of ancient myth?

Most Atheists accept the Universe as cold, pitiless, %26amp; indifferent. Why do Believers find this so difficult?
They are, as Richard Dawkins would put it, "speciesists".
Reply:Good objectively-stated question.

Answer: People who can't accept reality are "postmodernists".

They reject or ignore or want t replace the real to get special advantages, because they're afraid to deal with reality, because thy know they're failures.

They're free to believe whatever they want to. But what they do is say, "Since I can't or won't deal with what's real, I need someone infallible to tell me what to do; or else they say, "So I'll have to pretend to be infallible so everyone else will be forced to believe what I do, do what I say and obey orders."

That's why they do what they do--fear.

That's what they really want--to be part of or head of a dictator-slave group, as a system for telling other people (by force) what they have to say they beieve or don't believe, what they can do or can't do, what they need to pay of agree to receive."

Someone who does that is a collectivist, totalitariam, tyrant or slave, criminal, pseudo-religious dictator--anything but an American.

But that's why so-called believers do what they do.

They're not afraid to die in all cases--but in every case, they're afraid to live, at least by the laws of real space-time.
Reply:Very good question

I believe in something more. Its really that simple.

I'm not sure I'm better than a worm, and i know that the most adapted animals on this planet are, with no doubt, the insects. They are also the most beautiful. And yes The universe could be easily viewed as "pitiless, %26amp; indifferent", for me thats not hard to grasp although for some theists it seems to be, still, I believe in something more. Thats it

I'm sorry those are the only options you see.

If our world was not created by a sentient and powerful outsider, then there was no such entity to give it meaning. Giving the world meaning is *our* job.

I believe that people are "just animals" in the same way that I believe I am "just a person". I can be a certain kind of person who makes unique contributions to the world, without holding myself superior to other people. Animals can do some incredible things, so can we agree not to let that hold us back?

Love and companionship have a social component as well; they do not exist within any one person. Thus they cannot be merely chemical/electrical. This statement is unrelated to the existence of a soul—an idea which, in my opinion, raises more questions than it answers.

Right, wrong, justice, and crime are also social conventions. I believe in liberty and equality. In the eyes of the law, all people are equal; second to this principle, people should be allowed maximal freedom. Killing is wrong because it impinges on someone else’s more basic right to live. Stealing is wrong because it impinges on someone else’s more basic right to have stuff (in cultures where “personal property” has meaning). If you want to do something that does not interfere with someone else’s rights, what’s wrong with it?

We don’t need a creator in order to have rules of conduct. And since you’ve decided we do need one, there’s a very important question to settle: how do we know which creator is the right one? Various religious traditions give us different sets of laws. How do we know which laws are the right ones?

You seem to believe that “animal nature” is to steal, rape, and murder, but I disagree. Our system of rules works as a social convention, only as long as people agree to make it work. Animals cannot have such agreement, because some of them need to eat other animals in order to survive. I think you’ll find a lot of compassion, community, and order among animals when one is not threatening the life of another. Humans behave the same way, for the most part.

“When the chips are down it's really every man for himself.” I can see why you hate atheism, if this is what you think it entails.

“Civility, morality, humanity, and God are all just illusions that we have created to protect ourselves from this truth.” Maybe so. All of these illusions take on a quality of realness when enough people agree with them (just like currency, which is all but worthless without the agreement of the people who use it). Certainly this is true for the first three, which have to do with how people act: they are automatically made true by the people who believe in them. I dearly love these first three illusions. I have no problem with the idea of God, until people start using it as a tool to degrade those three.

“People say that logic says that there is no God.” I’m aware that some people say that. I’ve spent most of my life studying and teaching mathematics, so I know a few things about logic. As logic is of little value without axioms, I don’t believe logic is very effective in religious debate. I’ll elaborate some other time, but suffice it to say that I disagree with your stance that logic implies the existence of a world too bleak for even logic to blossom.
Reply:Actually, you are incorrect. Most atheists do not see the Universe as cold, pitless and indifferent. As a matter of fact, researchers in the Netherlands a few years ago found that the mean frequency of brainwave that humans emit that matches the mean frequency, so to say, of the Universe is the brainwave we emit when we are feeling compassion.
Reply:I guess that's why Stalin, Mao, Lenin, Pol Pot, Kim Jung Il, Fidel, Che thought humans were expendable for the fulfilment of their atheistic revelations. Well, the devil does not mind that, since he's much smarter than any atheist can ever claim to be and he gets his work done in degrading human beings to rock and plant level for easy expending. One of many tricks, same fools.

Otherwise you have been eating too many psychedelic mushrooms like Aldous Huxley above and then what you see is well that everything is one, like them Hindus smoking ganja on the ganges and merging with each other. This must be happening a lot in San Francisco

Reply:I am an Atheist. I do not believe that humans have some special fate. But I do not see humans in the same way I see all other life forms. We are unique and obviously ''above'' other forms of life. Although some are far more above it than others. I also believe that animals have a much more complex range of emotion than some people think. They should be treated with as much kindness as possible. I'm just saying.
Reply:Nicely put. Religion is outrageous these days. One of the main reasons we have wars are because we all have different religions. Why do we all have different religions? We were all brought up differently. I was born into a Catholic and Jewish family, though I was never baptized (thankfully). I am a fully dedicated atheist now, and willing to spread the word of my beliefs. As for your question, people think that they are the superior organism because we think that our languages are more complex than all the others, and we think that because we have organized schooling, churches, restaurants, etc., that we are the chosen species. However. because of evolution, we are the way we are. Most other organisms are very similar to us in most scientific ways such as reproduction, certain instincts, etc. We are special in the way that we have accomplished as much as we have, but in the way that we believe in a God and follow his bullshit words makes us not special in that way.
Reply:People want to believe that their lives matter, because they have so much need. They long for love and attention, safety and comfort, and to live forever in some form. God and faith offer a route to that, in many people's eyes. If they accepted the idea that the universe is random and amoral, they may find themselves lacking purpose. They may feel that if they are not important, they therefore deserve nothing, and that nothing they do is important or worth doing. Belief can motivate them to be productive and make the most of their lives, even if somewhere deep inside they can recognize it as a lie.

Personally though, I consider myself Agnostic rather than Atheist - just as there is there is no solid proof that God exists, there is no solid proof that God does not exist. Atheists can be pretty smug in their beliefs, too.
Reply:If God is not real then this world was created by some spontaneous fluke(The BIg Bang) and it has no purpose or meaning. It means that human beings evolved from primordial goop and are just animals. Things like love and companionship are just chemical impulses in the brain. Right and wrong, justice and crime are just words that we made up. The only reason all of us don't steal, rape, and murder is because those around us have been diluted into thinking that there is good or right and won't allow us to do what our animal nature tells us. Sure we can band together to accomplish great things, but when the chips are down it's really every man for himself. Civility, morality, humanity, and God are all just illusions that we have created to protect ourselves from this truth. The world is pointless, has no meaning, and is made up of those whose only purpose to get up in the morning is to fulfill there own animal desires or to continue to pretend that there is some higher power or meaning.

That is a world without God. And I reject it. I have to believe that this world has purpose and meaning, that we have purpose and meaning. People say that logic says that there is no God. Does that pointless world I painted sound logical to you? How can reason apply in a world that exists for no reason? As a scientist, I think that the existence of God is the most logical explanation there is.
Reply:First of all, I will say that I am a Theistic Agnostic. Second, I will say that there is a large population of believers who are NOT Christian, Jew, or Muslim.

Now, in many religions that are not of those three, they do accept the idea of a non-speciest universe. In fact, some hold animals in higher regards(like many animist and pagan religions).

Many of these religions, and in fact, even the Old Testament suggests this too, is that we merely have take care of this planet. Because of our proven psychological differences between humans(like advanced curiosity, instinctive grasp for language with a grammatical system, and the ability to study ourselves) and animals, that gives us an edge to oversee our actions with the planet.

The idea that nature is "ick" and "unholy" is fairly new and dumb.
Reply:Yes, I suppose without God in your lives, you would feel that the universe is cold, pitiless and indifferent.

On the other hand, we do have God in our lives, and we are not about gloom and despair, and nothing to live for. We have the BLESSED HOPE of JESUS CHRIST'S RETURN!!! That's what keeps us warm, compassionate, and wanting to help save you from your Godless existence.

It's love that drives us, not hate. Why can't you see that?
Reply:Because the world is what you make you make of it. Unlike other species who merely survive, humans have the ability to feel emotions and are only indifferent if they choose to be.Atheists may be cold, pitiless, and indifferent but that's no reason for the rest of us to be.
Reply:Well said!!
Reply:i compleatly agree with this! Everything is the same. Theres nothing more special then the other.
Reply:I tips me 'at. *tips hat*

My ego directs me add my my own thoughts ...

Cold and pitiless? Like beauty, it's all in the eyes of the beholder but I dare say that outside of this planet's protective shell most of it 'out there' would be rather cold and there's no thing out there to take pity on you so ...

The ego needs speshull attention.

It does not like to know its time is limited; it needs to know it is infinite; it's why there's excellent money to be made from religion IF you can keep a straight face.

The Invisible Sky Critter was made in our image from the expectations of the the insecure and pushed by the parasites into the minds of willing receivers.
Reply:Well to answer your question from a believer's point of view, I think such belief certainly is a perpetuation of ancient truths, though you may not believe them to be true. I feel that I have a special fate because I fail to find a point in living when faced with an eternity of nothingness, in other words it seems to me that, logically, when faced with eternity, any number is negated, any action is pointless... hope that helps understand at least my viewpoint. And I think that all animals also believe and love and might have a spiritual continuance of life.
Reply:I agree with everything you say, except I don't find the Universe cold, pitiless and indifferent. I think most atheists find the universe warm, welcoming and exciting.
Reply:Because I want to believe in God. that is my right, but if you were in control I guess I couldn't. By the way, the gospel of Jesus Christ is so beautiful that I just couldn't pass it up.
Reply:Im not Christan, but I am spiritual. I dont see them as any different. I see everything as one. All life is really just one consciousness. The 'self' is only illusion. There is cosmic unity. I know there is more out there than ours brains can sense, psychedelic substances have allowed me to see that. I know both science and organized religion are blind to tru meaning.
Reply:an even better question, how do we know other animals dont have a religion? wolves, dolphins and many other animals are all known to be very intelligent and can communicate to each other and seem to us to have their own language almost. why do we say these animals have no gods they believe in. have you seen HAPPY FEET?

What matches blue-grey?

i have these striped capris from aeropostale that have bluegrey stripes(vertical)

what matches with that?

Pink?? i have a pink ralph lauren polo also a periwinkle polo

thanks =]

What matches blue-grey?
black matches everything... it would have to be a light pink to really match. Periwinkle... hum, I would think it wouldn't work with the blue of the stripe, it would look like you went for an exact match and didn't succeed.

I would go with black or a darker blue.
Reply:try periwinkle
Reply:yea pink could work

Do you think that letting my bridesmaids pick their outfit is a good idea? Please read my details FIRST!?

Hello everyone,

I want to go with a periwinkle and platimum (ie. grey) color scheme and I'm going to have about 5 bridesmaids. I'd like them to choose a 2 piece to their liking, maybe the top being periwinkle, the bottom being grey, or vice versa. I want them to have fun with it. My only guidelines are that they must be from David's Bridal, they must be these colors, and the bottom must be a long dress. I think it'd be more interesting and would make for some very creative and fun pictures. I DON'T want them to look so uniformed. This will be a semi-formal wedding with about 100-150 people, and I already put into consideration that they'll have to be in order correctly at church so there's color variation in the outfits they chose. I also thought about giving them each the colors I want them to wear on top and on the bottom, but letting them pick the top style (ie. sleeveless, spaghetti strap, etc). What do you all think?

Do you think that letting my bridesmaids pick their outfit is a good idea? Please read my details FIRST!?
I think that you have a wonderful idea. You gave them guidelines, they will all still be in your bridal colors, and look similar enough so that everybody know they are in the wedding party. Plus, you gave them an exact store to shop from so no one girl will stand out as being over or under dressed. They can find styles that will flatter their figure, so you don't have to worry about their specific types and how to find a dress that will flatter them all; which BTW is almost impossible.

And yes, I think you should talk to them about which colors they are going to wear on top and bottom so that you can better plan the maids processional. I doubt you want all of the women but one in the same scheme. That one will stand out, and unless she's the MOH, no one maid should stand out from the rest.
Reply:That sounds cool. What I'm doing is going to the fabric store and picking out the fabric, and letting the girls pick out their own design. Then were going to have a seamstress make the dresses.
Reply:You have plenty of answers to work with but my colors are similar. I am using lavender and silver. The bridesmaids are wearing separates from Alfred Angelo ( I heard horror stories about David's Bridal concerning maids) I told them they can wear whatever they want as long is it is floor length and the same color. This ensures that each can pick their own style from 10 of the styles I picked out and can fit their body type. Not everyone is built the same so the same dress wont look the same on all of them. So do a combination, you pick out styles of tops and skirts that you approve of and they can choose from there. I would advise you to make sure the top and bottom are the same color so that in photographs it doesn't appear choppy and inconsistent. Pull in the other color with a ribbon or sash or accent piece but I think its best to have top and bottom match. Good luck.
Reply:It is your weding you should do what you want for your weding if that upsets your bridesmaids there not really your friends if they were your friends they would uderstand how you want your wedding.
Reply:I did this for my wedding

i just told the ladies they needed a sage green dress, and that it had to be knee length.

they looked great - and they were able to find something they liked, and would wear again
Reply:Actually, I was thinking of doing the same thing for my wedding last year. But I changed my mind and had the same dress design but each girl had a different color. It sounds like you know what you want and you want them to be able to have some of their personality in the mix also. I think if you are willing, it's a great idea. Congratulations!
Reply:a long as it's the same color and material, letting them pick the style is a great idea. that way it will be something they will probably wear again.
Reply:This is awesome and generous of you! It can be so hard for five women of different body types to wear the same style! At my nephew's recent wedding, really only one of the three bridesmaids should have worn the dress - a strapless, formfitting bodice. The other two looked (honestly, not being mean) stuffed like sausages into them. They also looked so uncomfortable and self-conscious.

I have seen a wedding where a solid colour was used, and the gowns were just of different types - so one wore strapless, one wore cap sleeves, one a bolero jacket, one had the neckline cut down to "there", the other a high cowl neck - but all looked beautiful!
Reply:I thought of the same thing for my wedding my biggest thing was the color variation that you could get if they ordered it at different times. Most people won't be able to tell, though I have seen pictures of different shades and you can tell that they are different. If you don't mind that I would say go for it. You gave them guide lines and it would show how many personalities of people helped you get where you are today. I wound up deciding to do it with black and it turned out fine. Its your hubby to be and your day whatever you decide will make it all the more special! Good Luck!
Reply:My suggestion would be to pick the same bottom for each girl and let them choose the top in the color you've chosen. You'll need an appointment at David's anyway, so make one appointment for the same time for all the girls. That way you can be there and lay the ground rules before hand. Good luck!
Reply:I have been to a wedding where the bride did this, it looked GREAT!
Reply:I think its a good idea to let them have some input in the dress. Like you said, you pick the colors and etc.. but letting them pick the style would be great. It will keep it from being mundane. To me having different styles would make things more interesting, and more memorable for those attending.
Reply:It's your wedding. You can do what you want. I think it's great to let them pick out what they are wearing. I think the idea of giving them each the colors you want and letting them pick the sleeve style is great. Just make sure you are also in on the planning and it might be a good idea for them to run their ideas by you before they actually get the dresses, just so you don't get any unhappy surprises on your wedding day. I did have all of my bridesmaids (4) dress alike, but we all got together and picked out the dresses. I figured since they were the ones wearing them they ought to look good in them and like them.
Reply:Been there, done that! The different styles give a personal touch and often makes the outfit one that can be worn again. Thus, making the outfit practical. I think it is a wonderful idea and you might want to consider the skin tones of the girls. If the girls are of fair skin then they really need the periwinkle near the face to give them a "glow". Darker skins can handle grey in the face area and it will allow them to glow. I suggest you take color swatches and place against the cheek of each girl and decide from there which color for the top for each girl. Just an idea. I wish you all the luck.
Reply:Absolutely fine. I think it's a good idea, actually...I've been in plenty of weddings where I wear what I'm assigned, have to pay out all kinds of cash to buy the gowns, and they end up being something I wouldn't be caught dead in outside of that wedding.

Giving your bridesmaids the choice is a great idea. They'll be able to pick something in your color scheme but still be able to show their own personal style. AND they'll be more likely to actually want to wear the dress/outfit again...
Reply:I think if they all have the same dress it doesnt matter what type of strap style they have.... I have been to weddings where some have thing strap and some have thick while others had long sleeve, it still looked very nice because it was the same dress, same color. It actually shows that they were custom made.... how else would you have three of the same dresses that has a twinge of individuality.
Reply:Sounds like a good idea. However, I would insist on the same material as well, because some materials show the colours in different ways. That way they all match colour and fabric but the styles will vary. I think it will look nice. Unique and uniformed all in one. Good luck with the preperations and congratulations on getting married!!
Reply:I think it's a good idea, the uptightness of the wedding will be easier to handle if they're wearing something that like.
Reply:yeah,. you've set the guidlines. so if they stick to it. it will be good.
Reply:I dont think this is a bad idea. Particularly if you dont mind the non-uniformed look. I think it is good you are allowing them their own individuality, yet still giving them guidelines to ensure your wedding party doesnt look like a big jumble sale. I think as long as you are happy on the day and your bridesmaids are happy to wear different outfits, it shouldnt hurt. It will be unique and something you can reflect upon down the track.
Reply:The color scheme sounds great, and it's very nice of you to allow your bridesmaids some choice in their outfits.

I'd cuation however, that a mix of blue tops and grey skirts, grey tops and blue skirts, or all blue, or all grey, will be visually messy during the ceremony and your photos. It might be better to have ALL of them have the same color scheme (ie, they all wear blue tops and grey skirts, or they wear blue top and skirt with a grey wrap/shawl). It will look visually smooth, but still allow them to be indiviudal in their choice of style.

Definitely a good idea to let each girl choose her top style (depending on body type and preference, different cuts may flatter different girls). This will make a bigger difference to them than which color they have to wear where.
Reply:I like it. I am doing the same thing. I saw the collection from Davids Bridal and the dresses are nice. I am thinking about getting dresses from Jim Hjelm (there are a ton of dresses!) - they can pick any dress but I have a color scheme for them to follow and it has to be tea length. I don't like like unifomed looking bridesmaids either.
Reply:I was matron of honour in my best friend's wedding and she did something similar. She picked the colour and designer, Alfred Angelo and told us to pick any 2 pieces we wanted. I had first pick as matron of honour and the rest of the girls were let know what I picked, then each girl could pick their own but without repeating someone else.

We all got something we were comfortable in, something WE liked and picked out and something that showed a little of our personalities. Her pictures look FABULOUS! We have the same colour so we are still 'uniform' but with some flair.

I think you are making an excellent decision and your bridesmaids will thank you for it.
Reply:I suggest having them all get fitted together. that way no one will end up with the exact same dress but the rest sounds nice to me. I'd let them choose their own colors too, but that's just me. if you want to do something different for the moh, i'd sugguest adding some beading or a ribbon of some sort to her dress
Reply:I am doing exactly the same thing!! The only thing I ask- is that they tell me what they are looking at before they buy it- so I can check it online first. That way- if someone looks out of place or doesn't match- I can fix it. I think its the best way so people look and feel their best. I have 6 bridemaids so they will all fit the same dress. I am telling them they can wear pink tops and brown bottom- they pick the style. I think it's best if everyone top and skirt or the same color. Or you could make them all wear the same color- all different styles.
Reply:i think it's ok . . that way they will be able to wear a dress that they feel comfortable in and will fit their body type . . nice idea!!
Reply:i think it is a fine idea. each girl can pick a style that is flattering to them. having the same top and bottom color but in different styles will be fine
Reply:My cousin had a wedding a few years back and used Dabid's Bridal and used Periwinkle , it was awesome. We got to pick our own dresses also. No one looked aliked and it turned out great. I think it is a good idea to let them choose for themselves especially if they are gonna be paying for it themselves. You picked out your colors and let them know its has to be this way , then let them pick out the styles , go to davids and pick a variety of styles that you like to see them in and have them choose out of your favorites
Reply:As long as you have it organized then I don't see nothing wrong with allowing them to pick out the style. You should choose the colors for them though. As for the style, it's best to let them choose because some of them might not feel comfortable in sleeveless and such.
Reply:I was in a wedding where we did this. What a headache. You'll have two girls who are in love with the same top. It seems like a good idea at the time, but it takes FOREVER for people to chose what top. But, it also makes them feel as if they are chosing the dress they are wearing.
Reply:I think those are great ideas. I like the latter choice of giving them the option of picking their top style better. You want your pictures interesting but not a mish-mash of colors, so go with one color on top and one on bottom.

Also you may want to try this site: http://www.lynnlugobridal.com/

You can design your dress options, the colors, etc and they are dresses that can be worn again just for fun. You can at least have fun designing them! LOL...oh yeah, and I don't work for them. My friend used their dresses for her wedding.

Can't decide on a name for my solo project?

Okay... So I definately don't want to use my name, and I'm debating between 'Periwinkle Blue' and 'Elegant Confusion' (or posibbly elegant disaster.)

It's sort of an acoustic thing. Sometimes I play violin behind the vocals.

Could you pick which one you like better? If you don't like either, fess up and give me another option...

I'll credit you on the website if i use it! :)

Can't decide on a name for my solo project?
Okay, I'm being totally honest here: Do NOT pick Periwinkle Blue.

I'm sorry, but the word 'periwinkle', although I am aware that it is a shade, will totally put people off.

As for 'Elegant Confusion', it's okay, but it doesn't sound like the music you've described. It sounds like a metal band...

Elegant Disaster sounds like the best name you have there, and it is a good name.

I'd go with Elegant Disaster. It sounds awesome.

Good luck with your band!

Color to wear?

Future daughter-in-law having periwinkle blue for maid of honor and sky blue for the rest. Her mother and Grandmother is in Ice Pink.

She wants me to wear Champagine. I thought of another shade of blue would be better since I am the groom's mother. HELP!!!!

Color to wear?
Since she is doing lots of pastel colors, lavender may make a nice choice and it would fit in nicely with the periwinkle and pink. Also Cornflower blue is very pretty and not too dark. If you prefer pink, you should maybe consider a rose. I'm with you, champagne would be too much of a contrast.
Reply:Ask the bride or just wear what YOU want, what colour YOU like...:)
Reply:These are types of blues you can select from.. http://www.logosharx.com/logo-design-tip...
Reply:Would you look good in champaigne? Why can't you pick a nice dress that you like? It sounds like she wants to stay with pale colors. I think you should pick what you want to wear. As long as it is not white, she should not have a problem with it. You do not want to upset her on her day, but ask her why champaigne. You have to get something you will feel good in and also a color that will compliment you and your features.
Reply:wear the champaigne, it is her wedding after all.

you could just eat some cotton candy to fit in with everybody else.
Reply:She wants you to be in a different color than the bridesmaids. Usually, the mothers should try to complement each other by dressing in the same or similar colors. How about lavender?
Reply:I think that you should wear whatever color that you want to wear. Just find a dress in a color that you like!
Reply:I thnk lavender or a violet color would be very pretty, but, since it is her wedding you should dress in what color that she likes for you to wear, I think the Champagne would be nice too
Reply:why so many different colors? geez...usually isnt a wedding party dressed all about the same? its going to look like a rainbow in there haha - but id just recommend that other color to her and give her your reasonings and see what she says..
Reply:While pink is normally the traditional colour, try and accept that your daughter in law and her personality that she doesn't like to wear those types of things, and try and come to an understanding. Perhaps, if you have the chance before the wedding, see if you can incorporate both designs into the one dress that she would like to wear?
Reply:Go with the champagne ,, u will look good
Reply:go with what ever color matches ur skins u can choose a light yellow it will blend with all the other colors
Reply:It will probably not go over too well with the bride if you are trying to outrank her decisions. I would suggest asking her if she would mind if you wore blue.. and if she say's yes, then leave it alone, it's her wedding

Ok, this is an opinion question. Which color is best?

Thanks guys, you really helped me on my last question. My friend can't outsmart me now. Ok, on this, it's purely a poll. And as far as the colors go, anything as fine as long as its not like...periwinkle. (Even though it's fun to say.)

With all these so-called "Real" life TV programs how about a real life fishing show not another boat show?

I have been fishing for about 35 years I started back when my dad was stationed in Turkey,Cigli Air Base in Izmir Turkey. Dad and I fished in Izmir Bay right in back of base/post housing beyond the 360 degree perimeter fence. I was probably in early grade school. And we didn't have a boat but I have fished out of a boat in about 300 feet or more of icy cold water in Puget Sound in Seattle Washington state. But most of my (99.99 % has been off some kind of fixed platform). In Izmir it was off a bank. In Oklahoma it was in a lake off a rocky bank under some trees, or off a bank near a reservoir, in Virginia it was off a pier or a point in WA state it was off a "Lock" or a pier in New Hampshire or off periwinkle covered rocks. The point is that not everyone can afford a boat and really not everyone wants a boat i.e. PFD's,operating the boat, needing a bilge pump, boating rules of the road etc. I am thinking about having a fishing show from the "bank",or a bridge, or a pier etc. Email me.

With all these so-called "Real" life TV programs how about a real life fishing show not another boat show?
One thing about TV fishing shows they are to entertain only with just a touch of real life info in them and that's all!

10 years ago a buddy talked me into making some educational videos for fishing and deer hunting and we did some test marketing with them and found ppl want to see the KILL or CATCH only and very few want to learn real life tips for hunting and fishing.

My vids of fishing were as follows - Big Cat Secrets! Gills N Redear BASICs! Crappie spring/summer/fall/ice!Hunting vids- Back Yard bow! Buck N The BASICs! Standin for Success!

We gave it up after a 6 month product survey versus big name selling videos and just did not find the interest in the everyday guy hunter and fisherman. Most ppl wanted big bucks shot on cam and not a real how to video!I invested lots of money(profesional video cam cost me 100 per day rental) and we had professinal editing too vids looked good but from the viewers ratings I stopped.I put survey sheets in with every video and the most common complaint was lack of kills to why do we not use certain products!

I find that ppl say they want to learn but when it comes down to it they want the action only!
Reply:That'd be neat and relaxing, maybe even reach that peaceful level of camaraderie we enjoy while waiting in the flesh for our nibbles.

I caught my first fish at about age 5 (a huge cabazone), from the municipal wharf at Santa Cruz, California. I've deep-sea fished for salmon and other fish, off the Central Coast of CA. I've also fished off the banks of Clear Lake, CA.

A fishing show with a couple guys/gals waiting and talking about fishing and fishing experiences (and life's reflections that come from those thoughts) would be wonderful.

I'd sit still for that.

It'd be rewarding, educational, comforting and fun.

Do it.

Prom makeup for pale skin?

I'm going to my school's prom next Friday (April 27th), and I'm not sure if I'm actually going to get my makeup done, but just in case, what should I do for my makeup? I'm wearing a periwinkle dress, and I'm very pale with dark hair. It's a very formal event. Any adivce is helpful! Thanks!

Prom makeup for pale skin?
Try a sheer liquid foundation, and set it with loose powder. Also try a luminous powder to highlight your brow and cheek bones. Mac makes a really lovely silvery pink shimmer powder, i use it all the time for special occasions. Get a shimmery lilac/blue based eyeshadow kit or quad and a deep plum or navy eyeliner to create a smokey eye. Smokey pastel eyes are VERY in this season!! Use a pink based blush on the apples of your cheeks, and a sheer berry lipstick or stain. Then, add a sheer gloss over your lips, and you're set! You will look stunning! I'm very pale as well, so I can sympathize...trust me, this will look gorgeous. Try MAC cosmetics for all the things I mentioned, they have EVERYTHING!! Good luck, and have fun on Friday!
Reply:I LOVE maybelline new york. I also have pale skin. I find that when I try to darken my make up it makes it look cheap-do what looks best on you-not everyone else.
Reply:Use an ivory shade, eyeshadow to match the color of your eyes, black liquid eyeliner and mascara, pink or coral lipstick. Cover Girl has some pretty shades.
Reply:Purchase some Pyshicians Skin Care bronzer that has the hight and low lites in with the bronzer, by the light to medium and it's in a compact. Brush it on with a big flluffy makeup brush and use the hightlite parts for your eyes and add a bit of the bronzer part to your cheeks. Or go to a department store and get a free makeover on Sat. you don't have to buy anything but act interested in their products you never know you might just find the perfect shades for your skin.
Reply:You could do the pin up thing with heavy black upper-lash liner, two coats of black mascara, pink blush on the apples of your cheeks, and perfect red lips. (line your lips with a pencil that matches your lips and then apply a blue based red lipstick with a brush, add a dab of gloss to the center to look extra kissable.)

Or you could go a little smokey with the eyes. Line your entire eye at the lash line with black pencil eyeliner. Use a Q-tip or smudger if your eyeliner has one, and slightly smudge the eyeliner into your lash line. Use an eyeshadow brush, not a sponge, and apply dark brown (not shimmery) eyeshadow from lash line to crease. Blend really well. Line the bottom lashline with the eye shadow brush in the same fashion. If you really wanna do it up, apply an off white eyeshadow to your lashline and browbone (blend!) then a slightly shimmery dark brown to your crease. (Blend.) Maybe a light berry lipstain or pink lipgloss?
Reply:its super easy. just do the basics start with foudation and settle it with powder. then use eyeliner, i perfer black. then take blush because the light will ruin your skin and you will looked flushed without the blush. then do your eyes with something dark to make them stick out. i use black but i have blue eyes. then always put a shimmer on to make yourself sparkle.

Striped pants w/ striped shirt or solid shirt?

is it good to wear solid colored button down shirts with pinstriped suit pants. or is it good to wear a striped button down shirt w/ striped pants?

the pants are light gray w/ white pinstripe and the options for shirts are solid almost periwinkle color, or a white shirt w/ black and silver thin stripes. i hope i described this well enough to get a right image for you. thanks.

Striped pants w/ striped shirt or solid shirt?
Definetly the solid you will find that in all likelyhood your stripes will clash and also you will look like a walking candy cane left over from xmas
Reply:I'd stick with the solid shirt.
Reply:Go for the solid one. If you want to wear the striped one try wearing it with black or blue jeans.

Striped pants + Striped shirt = fashion catastrophe!
Reply:pick the solid one.
Reply:Go for the uncomplicated solid shirt. In the future, if you choose to buy additional shirts, try solid colors of yellow oxford cloth, french blue, cobalt blue, or solid black, though that could get a bit guido-gangster looking. Don't laugh, but even a pink shirt could work if that is your taste. Make sure you are wearing black shoes and belt. Good luck
Reply:definatly the solid shirt... you dont wanna over-do the stripes ^_^
Reply:Go with the solid color one. I think it will give the pants a bit of a kick that they need. Too much of dull colors ruin the look.
Reply:solid

HELP with July wedding flowers & colors!?

I am getting married next July. We have just picked our venue, it will be an outdoor ceremony %26amp; tented reception. There is no real theme yet. I wanted one of my colors to be like a lilac or periwinkle - but I learned that lilac is not in bloom in July.

Can anyone recommend any other flowers close in color? What about an actual THEME or another color to compliment?

I have no idea what I am doing!

HELP with July wedding flowers %26amp; colors!?
you can use orchids, freesias, lisianthus

or how about Lupine and yellow lillies or sunflowers.

yellow is a complimentary color to purple/lavendar

you can have your bridesmaids wear lilac with yellow accessories or even put half the girls in yellow and the other half in lilac.

you can get clematis plants with purple flowers and have the vines cover the four corners of the tent. get some petunias in lilac and plant them in pretty pots and they could be used for center pieces on the tables - you could even put candles in the center.
Reply:Check out flower options here

http://theknot.com/keywords/sc_150_527.s...

And no theme is necessary. "Wedding" is theme enough.

If you need another color, why not white? Lilac and white? Or periwinkle and white?

Dress the bridesmaids in periwinkle, and have the little flower girl in all white.

Picture groomsmen in something like this with periwinkle vests and ties.

This site does have the periwinkle available.

Your groom could wear the same tux with white vest and white tie.

Just some suggestions.

Blue flowers?

I bought a periwinkle dress from davids bridal for my bridesmaid and was expecting it to blue-ish purple but its more blue than anything. Is it possible to get a blue flower? If not i am going to do all white with a blue ribbon. http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_... I attached a link, hope it works.

Blue flowers?
There ARE blue flowers out there; they are just not as common as other colors.

Hydrangeas are a great choice:

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

There are also cornflowers:

http://www.paghat.com/images/bachelorbut...

And irises:

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

And agapanthuses (lily of the Nile):

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

And delphinium:

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

You can even dye roses blue, if you want. (There are varities that have naturally been bred to be blue, but apparently those don't last as long as the dyed ones.)

http://www.nurseryflowersusa.com/images/...

You might want to consider using a contrasting color instead. My sister-in-law used that exact same bridesmaid dress in her wedding (periwinkle and everything), and she used orange and blue flowers in her bridesmaid bouquets. Since orange and blue are complementary colors (across from each other on the color wheel), the contrast was absolutely gorgeous. She used orange alstroemeria in her bouquets:

http://images.mooseyscountrygarden.com/h...

Good luck, and I hope this helps!
Reply:Perinwinkle is not, actually never, a purplish blue, it is sort of a variation of the sky blue but not as bright as that shade.

Anyway, you can still go with a lavender-colored flower (orchid or such) as the flower to go with the dress.

See the link below.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

I love the dress....but, yes, it is more on the blue side. But I still like it!!!

Here is my suggestion as I love to arrange flowers. Don't try to match the flower color with the dress color. That will not look good in pictures (or in person) in my opinion. Instead, you want flowers that contrast AGAINST the blue. You want something that will stand out!

Look at this color wheel. You want something opposite of blue....so that would be something in the red/orange/yellow area:

http://www.mens-fashion-tips.com/images/...

Possibly a mixture of all of these!

http://www.beyondblossoms.com/images/Ros...

http://www.hawaiianweddings.net/yellow_r...

http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/38/...

If you want to wrap it all with a blue ribbon, that would be nice.

Also....are you getting fresh flowers? If so, please go and meet with a florist (or two!) and get their opinions and ideas. That is their business! They do weddings every weekend. They are there to assist you in your selection and work within your budget.

Good luck!
Reply:that dress is in cornflower??? thats the color of my bridesmaids. ( i have 8 ... lol) my bouquets for them are blue hydrangias, yellow and orange roses, and bells of ireland (which are like granny smith apple green) I like the way all the colors look with the dresses. i did not want to go with all blue and white, cause it reminds me of the greek flag, and we arent greek.

Hope it helped. i get married this weekend, and can send u pics after. Congrats and goodluck
Reply:Hydrangeas are the most popular

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

Here are some other ideas though:

http://www.wedding-flowers-guide.com/blu...
Reply:I think white flowers would look better, or if you really like the blue mix it with white flowers. It's up to you though, you are the bride! Congrats %26amp; have fun!
Reply:hydrangea's come in blue.... you can also buy floral spray and change the color of any flower.
Reply:I think white flowers would be gorgeous with this dress.

Pinks would be nice too, if you're OK with introducing another colour into the mix.
Reply:I agree. Those are pretty, maybe a little much for a wedding but if used right they could work.

I'd go with white flowers if you could though.
Reply:there are blue flowers!!! if you were in cyprus i'd help you more but i don't know their names in english and i certainly don't know where to find them anywhere else!!!:(

Flower colors?

I decided i want most of my bouquet to be white roses with just a little bit of colored roses mixed in. I'm trying to decide between light pink or baby blue. Either of those colors will look good against my white dress but my maid of honor will be in periwinkle. What color would go best with her dress? Also do our bouquets necessarilly have to be the same colors? How would a white bouquet with pink and baby blue roses mixed in look?

Flower colors?
I think it would be nice for you to have the white, baby pink and blue roses in your bouquet. Also - since the blue roses may get a little pricey, you can try adding a few blue hydragea's...those are lovely flowers. Then you can have your bridal party carry white and baby pink roses. I think that it would go lovely together.

http://www.capefearwedding.com/graphics/...
Reply:I think that would look good. Yours and your bridesmaids dont have to be the same. I got the same thing as my girls and just added some extras and different colors to mine, to make it different.
Reply:No, flower color doesn't have to match. The mixed bouquet would look good. A flourist can really be a big help in this decision.
Reply:Mostly white with a few light pink will look best.
Reply:that would look so romantic sounds fab!

Mismatching bathing suits?

is it ok to wear mismatched bakinis? I have one and the top is like periwinkle and the bottom is turqoise is that ugly? i know a lot of people wear michmatched but JW

Reply:that looks just fine but matching would just look a little better thats all its not UGLY!!
Reply:I sorry to tell you this but GO SHOPPING!
Reply:That is the power of clearence racks at Old navy and Target, hell I compose my own mis matched pieces, but they look good together. Try complimentray colors, or a flowered or striped bottom and a solid color top. You could always add a matching accessory to balance color.
Reply:in my opinion, it's ok. it's not like i'm some fashion editor or something, but i think the whole mismatching thing is cool...and this way, no one will ever have the same suit.
Reply:mismatched is fun and cute. usually mismatched patterns with similar color patterns, a patterned top with a non patterned bottom (or vice versa), or things from the same color scheme are best. sometimes really different colors are cute though. if you think they look good together then wear them!

We made a new word, bushaka,to replace the N word,it means positivity,do you think anyone use it in real life?

BUSHAKA has been coined by students at Austin H. MacCormisk Island Academy to replace the N word.

So instead of addressing each other with the N word, students now say BUSHAKA while bumping/skaking closed right fists.

BUSHAKA which means positivity is multicultuarl in its inclusiveness- meaning it can be used by all- black, white, pink, brown, yellow, red, periwinkle, and any other color, well you get it.

It stands for positive energy so when you say BUSHAKA as a greeting, you're saying, "My brother/sister, in with the positive, out with the negative".

BUSHAKARIZATION means enlightenment, while niggerization means ignorance and enslavement of the mind.

To BUSHAKARIZE or to SHAKARIZE is to motivate or to be motivated to excellence, to learn, to enlighten.

To ********* is to darken your mind or to refuse to learn or engage in positive attitude and activity.

SHAKARA is the seed of enlightenment, or your ingenuity, your mind, your brain, your intelligence. So spread the word

We made a new word, bushaka,to replace the N word,it means positivity,do you think anyone use it in real life?
You know, it isn't the word itself, it is what you mean when you say it. So if you use Bushaka instead of the N word, then in essence it is just as bad as the N word if you actually mean the N word. Remember, "*****" means "black" in Spanish, "*********" means "cheap" although it has nothing to do with the N word. However, if you tell someone they have taken a ********* approach to something, they will be insulted if they don't know what the word means. If you call some Black people "Colored" today they will want to skin you alive, but back in the 60's, many Black people preferred the term. So, remember, it isn't the word itself, but what you mean by the word.
Reply:i don't know if it'll catch on but i think it's an absolutely amazing thing! i'm going to try to use it as often as i can!
Reply:I wish EVERYONE would stop using the "N" word. Even gangstas and rappers......
Reply:I think it's very hopeful of these students to try to unite people of all races. It shows that not all young people are poisoned by what our generation and the ones before us have done in the way of hatred. I'm not so sure it will catch on all over simply because the word, Bushaka, doesn't roll off the tongue very well. Maybe, eventually, a derivative or similar word will catch on.
Reply:I hope this will catch on...this is very cool.....you need to get this out there...write a column for a paper or magazine.....spread the word! Who says the young are only interested in destruction? Great job guys!

Fashion

What do you think of this poem??

A dash of fun

A sprinkle of sparkle

A pinch of sun

A snip of periwinkle

A splash of spunk

A smidge of passion

A bit of funk

A whole lot of fashion!

Good base.

Add how you make it...do you stir...shake...mix...blend...etc...?

Add how it's to be served...hot...cold...etc.?

Wedding colors?????????????/?

DO you think these would be pretty for a May wedding?

Periwinkle and Lilac with silver accents

Wedding colors?????????????/?
That sounds beautiful! You could even give each bridesmaid small bouquets of flowers since it is a spring wedding. : )
Reply:Sounds lovely for a Spring wedding.
Reply:I think they would look best if you also threw in another deeper color, like a deep purple. You could use the darker color sparingly, but I think it would help give some contrast to your color scheme since all the other colors are so light.
Reply:I like both periwinkle and lilac, but not the silver. Either use something like light yellow or light pink, or just cream or white.
Reply:Yes, those sound very nice for a May wedding.
Reply:no lilac is pretty
Reply:That was my first choice for colors... blues and purples are very pretty together, and you may be able to get a really good deal on things in that color scheme a month or so out since easter uses those colors...
Reply:yes
Reply:Aren't periwinkle and lilac almost the same color? Very similar....
Reply:Those are great sping colors, perfect for a May wedding! You could add mint green or light yellow as an accent color.
Reply:That sounds really pretty. You could do Periwinkle dresses since it would be easier to get lilac colored flowers and then use fabrics and accessories to throw in the silver accents. The purples and blues will be beautiful in the spring!
Reply:Be VERY careful with the shades of these colors. Periwinkle and lilac are very close in color and may clash.

Consider something brighter for the accents.
Reply:yes that sounds nice
Reply:that will look very pretty....very spring like! you could even get away with doing easter-ish colors as well.
Reply:sounds very nice.

i think the light blue one would look amazing on you!!! the berry one might make your skin seem even more pale since there would be so much contrast! and the blue would bring out your eyes. but the berry one would look great with your hair!

my vote's with the blue one though!
Reply:I prefer the berry color but I know that it can be kinda dark on such light skin. I would consider going with the blue.
Reply:go blue...btw u sound hot, lol
Reply:I would choose the blue. It will bring out your eyes plus since the pink is so dark you might look washed out. Really whichever one you like better is what you should pick though. You want to be looking confident.
Reply:if u want the color of your eys to come out than u should use the opposite color.

so then go for a pink one.

if u want to just have a swimming suit just to look nice in then go for the berry colored one.

both are nice.

i would go for the pink one for you over all though.

i have blue eyes to so i would go for the pink for me so it would look great for you!
Reply:just dont wear one

God made you the way you are and others shouldnt judge

.. but id go for the periwinkle
Reply:periwinkle blue!
Reply:berry one =]]
Reply:the blue might bring out your eyes
Reply:shamrock green
Reply:I think you should go with the berry color! It will look very cute!
Reply:periwinkle blue one.

I applaud you for finally trying to replace the vulgar word, and with the right media, like yahoo, it could reach many in some time, but you have to be patient. On account of kids today and they're love for the N word, they will try to protect it, because Bushaka is not 'cool' yet, but you made a wise decision on spreading it in "Riker's" because most 'street/gangsta' trends came from there, so it could catch fire and blow up soon. And don't be put off, by the man who answered above me, unlike him, I read the whole article and I know that Bushaka is inclusive which means anyone can use it it actually unites better than any other word. BUSHAKA, lol
Reply:I intensely dislike any word which divides us as opposed to uniting us. People are just people, and words used to differentiate between people based on race, color, religion, age, sexual preference, etc. only serve to add unhappiness to the world.
Reply:It's a bit hard to memorise. But what the hey, you like it, you use it, more power to you! Just don't ram in down other

people's throats.
Reply:You give him too much credit for his crimes to humanity, perhaps BUSHWHACKER -%26gt; ONE WHO WHACKS A BUSH WITHOUT FINDING OUT WHAT'S IN THE BUSH. A not so recent example%26gt; The illegal invasion of Iraq to remove a dictator who has been charged with killing thousands during his rule. How many non-combatant Iraqis have been BUSHWHACKED by the BUSHWHACKER. Unconfirmed figure puts that at around 30 thousand casualties plus around 2 to 3 thousand Whackers directed by the BUSHWHACKER. To remove a killer, you have to kill more innocent citizen of a sovereign country? The world might consider using the new word more often to prevent future BUSHWHACKERS from rearing their heads again.

What shoes match this dress?

My dress is periwinkle.

What shoes will match it?

What shoes match this dress?
Very cute dress.... I would go with silver heels
Reply:The dress is adorable. Since it is a soft shade of periwinkle, I'd opt for lighter colours in shoes: white, off-white, pale grey or silver would look fresh. A strappy sandal with a slim heel would be graceful. You could even wear flats with a touch of sparkle. Keep away from anything heavy: platforms, thick ankle ties or thick heels.

By the way, deeper tones of periwinkle can be worn with black, navy or grey.
Reply:i would go with some wedges in white, silver or navy blue. here are some options:

Reply:Silver or purple will work but not a purple darker than the dress.Whoever said white is crazy! that is soooo 90's trust me! If your going for a sexier vampy look wear heels or pumps and if your going to wear it to like a wedding or something like that where you need to be a little toned down wear flats. Good Luck! The dress is gorgeous you will look great!
Reply:Silver, white or black will flatter the dress color. If your trying to dress it up go with the silver or black, if its casual opt for white.

Flats will work for all occasions and if you want something a little more dressy go for a kitten heel.
Reply:probably like silver shoes like this http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?cat...
Reply:i'd say purple flats or purple heels or heels that are clear if u kno wat i mean but if u put a pretty white tie somewhere under ur chest or somethin like some dresses have then wear white heels or flats or the american eagle shoes some person that answered this question posted
Reply:definatley silver shoes!
Reply:Silver or bronze will be safe. You could always go for a statement shoe and go with yellow.

Galle vases?

I have a 13 and 1/2 inch vase that has Galle on it in raised letters. The background is a soft periwinkle blue and the design features lilly pads and birds in a soft grayed lime green. The design is also raised in relief. The workmanship appears flawless. Can you tell me more about this vase. Mary Jo Kaiserlian mjokaiser@hotmail.com

Need wording suggestions for Card Box and Favors?

I’m doing a beach themed wedding in April 2008 with about 150 people. We are having the reception and the wedding all in the same banquet hall room. Our colors are Periwinkle, white and small dark purple accents.

I’ll be creating a “treasure chest” card box, with beads, fake jewels, gold wrapped chocolate coins…and for favors, I’m going to give away little periwinkle bags of 5 gold wrapped chocolate coins with some sort of note attached to each.

I would like to put a card on the treasure chest table, somehow tactfully explaining that it is a card box…and saying something about the coin favors….something beach related about “treasure” or “fortune” or “bounty”…(NO Booty…LOL) thanking people for joining us in our good fortune at finding each other or something like that…something fun that will go along with the theme. I also need wording for the little tags to attach to the chocolate coin bags, again with the treasure, fortune or something similar.

Any suggestions on wording?

Need wording suggestions for Card Box and Favors?
It might be cute to put one chocolate heart (the ones in the red foil) in each bag of coins. Then you could have a message like:

"Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure: where your treasure, there your heart; where your heart, there your happiness."

Saint Augustine

or

"Love is the most important treasure for which we're here, living."

Reply:how did I even end up at this question??

I think your idea for your wedding is GREAT.. you picked great colors and the theme sounds fun!!.. I don't have any suggestions... but I think the first answerer gave you some great ideas. Congrats in advance on getting married. Your wedding will be beautiful!!
Reply:A pirate wedding...that's one I've yet to see.

Let our fortune be yours as we treasure each other for the rest of our lives

It is truly a treasure that we have found each other.

Thank you for celebrating our good fortune of finding our soul mates.

If you put the card box on the gift table people should not have trouble realizing what it is.

Need Wording Suggestions and Ideas for my Beach Themed Wedding...?
Favor wordings- "One day of true love is better than a life time of gold. Thanks for sharing in our fortune."

"We found our buried treasure- in each other."

Card box wordings-

"May these coins return the fortune that your wishes bestow to us."
Reply:You could try a simple thank you like--To the many Pirates of the Caribbean, we would like to take this time to say thank you for helping, encouraging, and supporting our life long treasure of love for one another. And then you could go with the empty bottle idea just be sure to add a cork. LOL. And don't forget the shells. Hope this helps.
Reply:I would say that you don't need any sign near the treasure chest to designate it as your card box. Just have your bridal party and close family members put their cards in first, and other guests will get the idea. Also, if you have it set up on the gift table, most guests can figure it out for themselves. Just to be sure, however, you may want to ask someone to keep an eye on that area and help out any guest that may be confused.

This is a cute quote:

If love is the treasure, laughter is the key. - Yakov Smirnoff

Thank you for celebrating our joyful day with us.

"Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure: where your treasure, there your heart; where your heart, there your happiness." -- Saint Augustine (354-430

A Friend is a treasure. More precious than Gold, For love shared is priceless And never grows old.
Reply:Sounds cool, however your colours don't go with a beach theme at all!
Reply:It sounds like you're going more for pirate theme than beach theme...we're having a beach themed reception, but using a muted turquoise and sandy color...I'm stuck on your sign wording...I'm sorry
Reply:A co-worker is throwing a beach wedding and for her centerpieces she is having (I think hurricane) glasses with sand and shells in them.

Another idea would be to get floating candles in the shape of flowers as center pieces.

OrientalTrading.com has a TON of ideas for beach themed weddings!!!
Reply:the invitations should be rolled up and placed into plastic bottles. U can add sand in it. Check out Oriental Trading company, they are inexpensive, they have what I am suggesting plus much more beach themed stuff. Congrats and good luck.
Reply:I think it would be tacky to put a sign on the card box. That's basically begging for money. People will know what it is for if you just put a card envelope in it so they can see that.

I love the coin bags, though! How about: "Sharing our good fortune with you", or "We treasure your presence here today".

What organisms would you NOT likely find in a salt marsh?

periwinkles

blue crabs

fiddler crabs

pitcher plants

.............?
There are both resident and transient fishes and crustaceans in the salt marsh. Many transients come into the marsh as juveniles and use the marsh's surface as a protective refuge from predators as they grow. This "nursery" function is important for many of our commercially important seafood species. Other transients include larger predators that come into the marsh with the tide to feed along the marsh edges on the smaller organisms that venture too far from the protection of the marsh grasses. Many of the resident organisms feed on the aufwuchs, like the periwinkle, olive nerite, grass shrimp, hermit crabs and amphipods. Fiddler crabs like sandy patches in the marsh where they can come out into the air at low tide to feed on microalgae growing on the sand. During high tide, they stay in their burrows to avoid being eaten. Blue and gulf crabs are one of the major predators on the marsh, crushing the shells of many species to eat them, catching small fishes, and eating dead animals.

One more questions?????????? true answers please?

my husband and i are renewing our marriage vows in november i have my dress which i bought a davids bridal for 40.00 and it is a beautiful shade of periwinkle . it is a halter style dress, my question is what to wear with it? what type of jewlery and what else? also would u wear something on your head ex a veil or tiara or not? thanks again for all the help and god bless u ....

One more questions?????????? true answers please?
Congrats. It all really depends on how complicated the dress is. If it's got a lot of lace and designs, go easy on the jewelry or you'll look random. If it's a simple dress with no lace or designs, go with simple jewelry. You don't want everyone looking at a huge gaudy necklace when they should be looking at the whole picture. Wear a simple necklace with a simple charm. Only wear earrings if they match the necklace. You can't go wrong with diamond studs. As for a veil, not unless you can get a small periwinkle one. It would look odd otherwise. I would go with a ribbon or headband that matched the dress. If you want to wear a tiarra, skip all the other jewelry or you'll look like a Christmas tree with too many ornaments. Remember, less is more and have a wonderful ceremony.
Reply:That sounds nice, since your dress is periwinkle you can play off the color with gemstones whether precious or semiprecious etc. like Blue topaz or blue stones to compliment if you are wanting to compliment the color of the dress, certain necklaces work with that dress style but earings might do the trick for accent. I don't know about a tiara or veil, it is a wedding renewal that is totally optional on your taste and what you want to do :) . I would go with a similar theme as mentioned above with some hair combs/accessories, it can look as elegant without wearing a tiara.

Congrats on the wedding renewal!!
Reply:A veil would be pretty, if it was really "airy" and light...I dont know if you have any but it sounds like a string of pearls would look beautiful and elegant with the dress...
Reply:i think silver jewelry would looked fabulous! and satin shoes
Reply:I think having your hair done up really special maybe with flowers (baby breath) or something would be better than a veil. White gold jewelry would be nice too -- suggest to your husband that one of those graduated diamond necklaces would set your dress off nicely..................
Reply:don't wear a necklace that doesn't look good with halter tops....... wear a small tiara on your head
