I'm getting married in late August. Our colors are periwinkle and silver. We are also planning a small outdoor ceremony in a gazebo in a park. We are doing silk arrangments and i'm trying to figure out what flowers would compliment each other and mixing them with the garland for the gazebo (haven't figured that out yet), what to do with the bouquets, and how to incorporated the styles into the coursages and boutineers. I really don't want roses, so I'm trying to come up with something unique. Suggestions?
Flowers and combos?
Well you have a lot of options because you've chosen to do silk arrangements!! I agree with you.. it seems like everyone does roses. Whomever mentioned above taking the swatches of your bridesmaid dresses to look at silk flowers is a great idea, but you also have the opportunity with periwinkle to do alot of other colors to accent.
Seeing as I don't know the exact color, deeper purples, yellows, and magenta's accent periwinkle amazingly! Right now I know at JoAnn Fabrics, they have gerbera daisies in these colors. Gerbera's are GREAT silk flowers, no one will ever know they are silk... and the great thing is they naturally come in a wide variety of colors, so you can get some really vivid colors and they will still look real. You can buy bunches of gerbera silks and cut them apart and stick them in a greenery garland... it would look gorgeous.
Another flower that looks great are tulips, the only thing is most people know that tulips bloom in the spring time... so they might realize that they're silks... but they are still beautiful as silks and come in a variety of colors that can accent perwinkle as well. (more pastels like pinks, baby yellows ect.)
The last flower that comes to mind that would look great with periwinkle are hydrangeas. I had a bride who had lavender bridesmaid dresses and did silk hydrandgeas in whites, blues, and purples. GORGEOUS. We got the flowers in huge bunches from a discount craft store... cut them all apart then used those premade handles with the styrafoam in them and made our own bouquets. It really did turn out great. She then took premade garland (just the plain vines of greenery) and poked in a very "sprigs" of hyrdrangeas in the different colors. She sprayed her garlands lightly with spray glitter and used the garlands to accent her head table and the cake table. It looked soo pretty!!
Good Luck with the rest of your planning, and if you ever need help please let me know!!
Reply:You could always use purple-blue hydrangea and white star flowers- not sure of the name, but they look like a star shape, those are pretty

Reply:you have a lot of options using silk flowers for arrnagements. I would take fabric swatches of your wedding colors to a place like Ben Franklin or Michaels or even Old Time Pottery if you have one in your area and compare your colors to the silks available to get a better idea of what will match. Periwinkle will be slightly different from different companies.
